Fodera and DR Strings Unite for “Play It Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there’s a way for bassists to help. Fodera Guitars and DR Strings have partnered with Pink Aid, a nonprofit supporting breast cancer patients, to join the “Play It Pink” fundraising campaign.
DR Strings is donating proceeds from sales of all their Neon Pink bass and guitar strings sold through October. The Hi-Def NEON bass strings come in four, five, and six-string sets with three gauges: Light, Medium, and Heavy. The US-made strings feature round cores with silver-plated wrap and a K3 Coating.
Similarly, Fodera has created and donated a unique custom bass guitar that will benefit Pink Aid.
“Music is about connection, and we are proud to connect our craft with such a meaningful cause,” said Laura Fodera, CEO of Fodera Guitars. “By joining forces with Pink Aid, we hope to strike a chord of compassion and help ensure patients don’t have to choose between lifesaving treatment and providing for their families.”
The bass is a Monarch 4 Standard Special featuring an alder body, myrtle top, and a Shell Pink satin finish with matching headstock. The three-piece maple neck has 24 frets marked with abalone dot inlays. Other features include Fodera Duncan Dual Coil pickups, a Fodera/Trickfish preamp, and chrome hardware. The bass is also strung with DR’s Pink Neon strings. It’s available directly from Fodera, who will give all proceeds of the sale to Pink Aid.
