MTD’s Norm Stockton KNSJ5 Saratoga Is Here — A Signature 5-String with Serious Soul

MTD KNSJ5 Norm Stockton Signature Bass

Michael Tobias Design has expanded its Kingston instrument series by adding the Norm Stockton Signature design to the line. The MTD Kingston KNSJ5 Norm Stockton Signature Saratoga 5 String is built to the bassist’s specs, including a 35-inch scale, an alder body with a quilted maple top, and custom USA Bartolini electronics.

“I had high expectations for the Kingston NS, and it absolutely blew them away! Gorgeous looks, spectacular playability, and TONE for days. Everyone who’s played it has been floored.”

The KNSJ5 has a carbon fiber-reinforced maple neck with an asymmetrical profile. The maple fingerboard, which features 21 frets, also boasts a compound radius for enhanced comfort and playability. MTD writes that the electronics package sets it apart from the rest of their basses.

“The electronics feature active/passive switching and a custom mid-shift switch to select between 250hZ/450hZ (same frequencies as the USA version NS), making this instrument tonally unique among our lineup,” they share.
