Michael Tobias Design Launches Kingston Lynn Keller Signature Series Basses

MTD Kingston Lynn Keller Signature Series Basses

Michael Tobias Design has introduced a new model in their Kingston Series with the Lynn Keller Signature. Previously available as an artist bass from their USA shop, the new Kingston model carries similar design aspects while being a production model at a lower price point.

“As I’m a petite person, I needed a bass that fit me and could be easily worn for long hours without causing neck and back pain,” Keller told us last year. “[The Kingston is] a production bass designed as an entry-level bass, and like my original bass, it’s designed for a smaller statured player. Sonically they’re flexible tonally and fully stageworthy. Both basses feature lighter weight and perfect balance points. Both basses are high-end instruments designed to make playing a little easier without losing any sound quality at all.”

The medium-scale basses sport a 32-inch scale with 24 frets and come in four or five-string versions. MTD builds the Kingston LK Series with a basswood body, a maple neck with an asymmetrical carve, and a maple fingerboard with a compound radius. Its electronics include a P/J pickup configuration matched to an active/passive 3-band preamp complete with a passive tone knob.

MTD’s Kingston Lynn Keller Signature Basses a priced at $979 and $999. Upgrades for Bartolini electronics and Hipshot hardware will be available soon.

Wow! That’s a nice set of basses Lynn & Mike T hooked up. 32 inch scale AND 24 frets? My only grip is I wish they had a white finish but that candy apple red and that metallic blue looks sweet! Can’t wait to try one out!
