Flea Releases “A Plea,” Showcasing His Bass, Vocals, and Trumpet Work

Flea has shared a new song titled “A Plea,” the first look at his upcoming debut full length solo album. The track arrives with a video directed by his daughter Clara Balzary and gives a clear sense of where he is headed musically.

The piece starts with upright bass creating a deep pulse while Flea’s electric bass answers with a nimble line. The arrangement grows steadily over seven and a half minutes as drums, guitar, flute, and a full horn section enter. The result blends jazz funk punk and rock in a way that feels completely natural for him. After a trombone solo Flea steps forward with spoken word inspired vocals.

No Treble typically shares live performance as part of our daily “bass videos”, but for Flea, we are happy to share this music video.  “A Plea” is available on all streaming services, and the video can be viewed now.
