“Reflection” A Trio with Two 6 String Basses and Synth Finds a New Sound in Nature

“Reflection” brings together three distinct musical voices in an environment that feels as much a part of the performance as the players themselves. Dakota Dufour sets the foundation with a 6 string Ibanez, weaving melodic lines and chordal textures that stretch across the low and high registers. Alongside him, Toby Peterson adds his own approach on a 6 string Dingwall, shaping counterlines and rhythmic movement.

Their interplay is supported and expanded by RO1 on synth, whose evolving pads and subtle motion create a sense of space around the bass voices. Instead of competing with the low end, the synth work lifts it, giving the trio a wide and atmospheric foundation.

Filmed in the woods, the performance leans into the natural setting. The quiet of the forest and the shifting light & focus influence the pacing, giving Reflection a calm but detailed character. The result is a piece that feels grounded and expansive at the same time, a blend of extended-range bass work, ambient synth, and the presence of the landscape itself.
