Bob Weir Takes the Stage for One of His Final Performances With Dead & Company

Watching this August 3 Golden Gate Park performance now hits different after the passing of Bob Weir. At the time it just felt like another strong night from Dead & Company. Nothing framed as a farewell, just the band doing what it has always done.  This performance feels like a snapshot of Bob doing exactly what he loved right up to the end.  That is a pretty good way to be remembered.

Oteil Burbridge is steady and generous on the low end, giving the music space while quietly steering the ship. His bass lines never shout but they carry the weight. It is the kind of playing that reminds you how much feel matters in this music.
