Dingwall Unveils Jacob Umansky “Sol” Signature Bass at Winter NAMM 2026

Dingwall Jacob Umansky Sol Signature Bass 6-string body

Dingwall is on hand at the 2026 Winter NAMM show this week to unveil some new models. We’ve gotten a first look at the lineup with the Jacob Umansky “Sol” Signature bass, a five-string based on the bassist’s Custom Shop Z.

“It’s more than just an instrument to me. It’s a reflection of how I play and who I am as a musician,” Umansky states in a press release. “Each time I pick it up, whether on stage or in the studio, it pushes me to explore new ideas. The Sol has been mine for the last three years… and now it’s yours. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.”

The production model features an alder body with a bookmatched ash top. While it is based on his custom model, Umansky modified the body outline to his own specs and repositioned the controls, “making fast-paced slap techniques easier to deliver.”

“The bolt-on neck features a unique profile that has to be felt to be believed,” Dingwall boasts. “It’s hard rock maple, intended to be more robust for Jacob’s rapid-fire bass technique, and reinforced with carbon fibre, which helps keep any unwanted neck movement to a minimum. The multi-scale wenge fingerboard keeps the bottom end tight, the top end clear, plus it helps with intonation and comfort.”

The “Sol” is loaded with three Dingwall FDV pickups matched to a Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp. Its control set includes a push/pull active passive switch, a four-position rotary pickup selector, and a three-band EQ. Hardware includes a GraphTech nut, Hipshot tuners, and a Dingwall Minimalist bridge.

The Dingwall Jacob Umansky “Sol” Signature has a TBD price point, though the company commented that it will be “close to an NG.” It will be open to pre-orders in February and shipping mid-2026.
