Fodera Honors a Bass Icon With the Victor Wooten ’83 Monarch Standard
Fodera has expanded their Standard series of basses with the Victor Wooten ’83 Monarch Standard, which honors the bass hero’s original 1983 Monarch. The new model captures the “soul, voice, and playability” of the original with modern refinements and a lower price point.
It’s built with a mahogany body and maple top, which Fodera says gives the warm, punchy low-end characteristic of Wooten’s sound. The three-piece maple neck has an Indian Rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlays. A 34-inch scale, 24 frets, and 19mm string spacing make it feel familiar.
“Under the hood, you’ve got the EMG P/J pickups in Victor’s exact spacing, just like the original,” Fodera explains. “And powering it all is our Fodera x Trickfish Custom 3-Band Preamp— giving you musical, studio-grade tone shaping in any situation.
