Jacob Umansky Just Dropped “SOL,” Showcasing His 6-String Multiscale Dingwall
Jacob Umansky has just released his first official solo single, “SOL,” along with a new video that puts his playing, tone, and musical voice front and center.
If you have followed Umansky through his work with Intervals, you already know what he brings to the table. His playing is precise, fast, and deeply musical, but what really stands out is his tone. It is aggressive and immediate, with a punch that cuts through even the densest arrangements. “SOL” leans right into that identity. The track moves through tight rhythmic passages, layered melodic ideas, and dynamic shifts. This is not just a showcase of chops. It feels like a clear statement of where he is headed as a solo artist.
Front and center throughout the video is his 6 string multiscale Dingwall bass. The extended range and clarity of the instrument match his style perfectly, especially in the low end where every note stays defined, even under heavy attack. We just featured Umansky earlier this month for his “Lacuna” playthrough (Check that out HERE), and this release feels like a natural next step. That video showed what he can do inside a band context. “SOL” shows what happens when he takes full control of the creative direction.
If this is the starting point for his solo output, it is going to be worth keeping a close eye on what comes next.
