Joe Dart Keeps It Tight and Tasteful on Vulfmon’s “Tight Five”
Joe Dart is back doing extremely Joe Dart things on Vulfmon’s live in studio performance of “Tight Five,” and the groove is ridiculous.
The whole band is locked in, especially the horn section, which is insanely tight. Everything feels loose and elastic while somehow staying perfectly in the pocket. Joe appears to be playing a Music Man style parts bass with no name on the headstock and flats, and the tone is dark, fat, and dry in the best way. Every little ghost note and articulation pops out of the mix. Joe’s killer touch, perfect note placement, and bass lines that immediately make your head start nodding.
Also featuring P.T. Sargent on tenor sax, “Tight Five” is pure groove from start.
