Ellen Alaverdyan’s New Band Jaminai Announces Debut Album, “Take Off”

Last year, the young bass phenom Ellen Alaverdyan and her father Hovak launched a new band called Jaminai. Now the quartet, which also features drumming legend Gregg Bissonette and keyboardist Murzo, has announced its debut album.
Take Off is a jazz fusion album that blends funk and rock – all the things that the now 14-year-old bassist has been playing for years on her YouTube channel. Tracks like “Take Off” border on prog rock, while “13 Town” sees Alaverdyan getting funky on the fretless while hinting at the Jaco Pastorius classic “Teen Town.”
Each song features the bass taking the lead on the melody, showcasing her melodic style. Check out the music video for “Always With You,” which features her trading lines with her father.
The album will be another milestone in Alaverdyan’s career, who has garnered over 700,000 YouTube subscribers since she began posting at just 9 years old.
Take Off will be available on June 1st. Sign up on Ellen’s website for more info.
