All Them Witches Get Heavy on KEXP With a Wildly Modded Rickenbacker Bass

KEXP just dropped a new live session with All Them Witches, and this one sits right in the pocket for fans of heavy, rock centered grooves.

The band performs “Saturn Song” and “Hold Up, Say What?” live in the KEXP studio, with bassist and lead vocalist Charles Michael Parks Jr. holding things together from the low end while fronting the band. His tone is thick, gritty, which is perfect for the band’s heavy psych rock sound. Parks is also doing it on what appears to be a Rickenbacker bass that has been chopped up and heavily modified in a way that may make purists wince. It is not a museum piece but it has the right kind of character for this band. The bass looks worn, strange, and a little wrong which somehow doesnt seem out of place here.

All Them Witches have always had a gift for building a groove and letting it breathe.  Check out All Them Witches performing “Saturn Song” and “Hold Up, Say What?” live on KEXP.
