MXR Revives Its Vintage Flanger/Doubler Rack Unit as a Pedal
MXR has revived one of its vintage rack units as a new pedal called the Flanger/Doubler. The all-analog effects were featured heavily on albums from the ’70s and ’80s.
“It’s designed for experimenters, offering the tools to blend and bend your signal into your own rich, multi-layered textures,” MXR writes. “Built around authentic bucket-brigade devices and the original control set, this pedal delivers the full range of sounds that made the rack unit a studio staple.”
The pedal retains all of the original’s control set, including Mix, Regen, Manual, Width, and Speed. The Doubler button switches the effect between a “classic flanger swoosh and thick doubler chorusing.” The Mix knob is handy for bassists, allowing the original signal to be blended in with the wet signal.
The MXR Flanger/Doubler is available now for $333.
