050 Rosin Introduces Dark Formula for Double Bass

050 Rosin Dark Formula

050 Rosin has expanded its bass rosin lineup with the Dark Formula. It sets itself apart from the brand’s Soft, Hard, and Super Sticky variants with a special ingredient that gives it a unique texture and feel.

“While this rosin feels less sticky when applied, it is as powerful and grabs as good as our Soft blend (if not more), a smooth feel, especially during the hotter months –this rosin will behave very well even when temperatures hit the ceiling, without the risk of becoming too runny,” the company states on its website. “Even after multiple strokes the sound remains clean, with little to no background noise. Sound wise, compared to its ‘sisters,’ this blend enhances even more the low-mid overtones, resulting in a warm, vibrant, smooth and clear tone which will work perfectly both in solo and orchestral playing.”

You can hear the 050 Dark Formula in action in this clip of Severiano Paoli performing the Hans Fryba Suite. The piece uses all registers of the bass, allowing you to hear the rosin’s function across the instrument.

The 050 Rosin Dark Formula is made in the Netherlands. It’s packed in a recyclable metal can and is poured into a recyclable paper cup. It’s available now from select dealers.
