Toy Factory Project Blows “24 Hours at a Time” Wide Open in a 19-Minute Jam

Toy Factory Project has been steadily dropping videos from its February performance at The Capitol Theatre and at this point, if they post one, I am watching it.

This one might be my favorite yet.

The band takes the Marshall Tucker Band classic “24 Hours at a Time” and lets it wander for nearly 19 minutes. There is plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and the whole thing gets wonderfully heady. The groove settles in, the band finds the pocket, and before long everybody is out there exploring without ever losing the thread.

Oteil Burbridge is right in the middle of it all, laying it down on his Asher bass through an Aguilar rig. His playing has that perfect combination of deep pocket and complete freedom. He can sit in the earth for a minute, then suddenly start floating over the whole thing.

I keep saying this every time Toy Factory Project releases another one of these videos, but this band is ridiculously good. They might be my new favorite band.
