Vulfpeck Drops Video for “The Beachcomber,” the First Taste of Upcoming Album Decay of the Aura
Vulfpeck is back with new music. “The Beachcomber” is the first single from the band’s upcoming album, Decay of the Aura.
The grainy 4:3 video captures the band in one uninterrupted shot at The Studio at Belcourt in Newport, Rhode Island. At times, Cory Wong steps away from his familiar rhythmic guitar style, instead leaning into sparse single note lines that push and pull against the time. His bends drift in and out of tune with an almost Jeff Beck like quality, while Joe Dart and Louis Cato provide a steady foundation.
Dart is playing his Sterling by Music Man Joe Dart Vision through an Ampeg rig. The bass takes his minimalist approach about as far as it can go, with a single humbucker and no knobs or onboard controls at all.
Decay of the Aura will follow Vulfpeck’s 2025 album, Clarity of Cal. So far, the band has not announced a release date or tracklist, making “The Beachcomber” our first glimpse of what they have coming next.
