Dingwall Unveils Jared Smith Signature Bass with a Single-Pickup Design

Dingwall Guitars has unveiled a new signature bass for Archspire bassist Jared Smith. The model, which debuted at the 2026 Guitar Summit, is described as a “stripped-back, performance-focused design made for modern metal.”
It’s tailored to Smith’s preferences, including the neck carve from his favorite Z-series bass and a single bridge pickup. The pickup shell is still the size of a three-pickup design in order to work as a thumb rest and ramp.
“A lot of people that record heavy music are now focusing just on the bridge pickup because it gives you such tight lows,” says Sheldon Dingwall.
Though it has a single pickup, the Jared Smith Signature comes with a Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp for tone-shaping.
Dingwall will be offering the bass in five or six-string versions. The instrument at the Guitar Summit was a prototype, so a final price point has not been set.
