Top 10: The Most Watched Bass Videos (August 2020)
August was a great month for videos on No Treble. Reader views were up, and there’s quite a diverse line-up this time around. Here are your top 10 favorite videos for the month.
Teodoras Balciauskis: Still
No Treble reader Teodoras Balciauskis reached out to us with a new video he’s recently recorded. “This one features multiple interesting bass playing techniques and blends in electronic music to bring together such an emotional piece,” he shared.
Scott King: Centennial (Washing Machine) Blues
Scott King sent us this video, and we’re digging the creativity (and the tune!) “I wrote this tune based on the sound I heard from a washing machine... basically a really fast train groove (I actually slowed it down to 160 bpm),” he shared.
Melvin Lee Davis: J-Dub Walkin’
The great Melvin Lee Davis just dropped an epic video featuring a brand-new tune. Written by Davis and keyboardist Mike Cee Carpenter, here’s the funky “J-Dub Walkin’.”
The Immediate Family: Slippin’ and Slidin’
The Immediate Family are rocking in this new video they shared a few days ago. And Leland Sklar is looking mighty cool in this one too.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer: Knife-Edge (1970)
Here’s another fantastic clip from The Beat-Club’s archives, which features Emerson, Lake & Palmer performing live at The Lyceum Theatre in London. By some strange coincidence, this performance of “Knife-Edge” was recorded exactly 50 years ago today.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Voodoo Child (Slight Return) (Live In Maui, 1970)
Experience Hendrix has announced a new release coming on November 20th from the concerts Hendrix performed in Maui in 1970. Here’s some awesome footage of the band performing “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” - with Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell.
Juliaplaysgroove: You Keep Me Hangin’ On
Juliaplaysgroove has a new U-Bass, and she’s putting it to good use. In this clip, she takes on The Supremes hit tune, “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” and absolutely nails James Jamerson’s line (and the tone!)
Cassius Lambert: Bird
Cassius Lambert shared his latest video with us, and we were immediately knocked out by the sounds he created in this solo bass piece.
Dirty Loops: Songs for Lovers – Coffee Break Is Over
Dirty Loops’ “Songs for Lovers” series has been fantastic so far. Here’s their latest, with the tune “Coffee Break Is Over.” Henrik Linder is firing on all cylinders on this one.
Vulfpeck: LAX
Vulfpeck has a new album coming out, and we get to check out the first single. “LAX” was co-written by Joey Dosik, who handles the vocals and sax on the tune, along with Joe Dart on bass.
Martin Miller & Mark Lettieri: Josie
The Martin Miller Session Band is back with another killer video, and a killer cover. In this clip, they take on Steely Dan’s hit “Josie”. Benni Jud not only handles the bass line but also the vocals.
