Primus was just announced as a performer on Tool’s monumental “Live in the Sand” festival for 2025, but they’ve also been hit with a curveball. The band has announced that drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander has quit the band.
Tool Announces “Live in the Sand” Festival with Primus, Mastodon, and More
Tool has announced a new festival in the Dominican Republic called Live in the Sand, and to say it looks promising is an understatement. The fest will feature two nights of Tool and performances by Primus, Mastodon, Coheed and Cambria, Eagles of Death Metal, King’s X, Fishbone, Wheel, CKY, and Moon Walker.

Primus Auctioning Festival-Played Fenders for Charity
Primus faced a dilemma last week at the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas. The band’s gear was stranded in a snowstorm. Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde didn’t think twice – they ran to the nearest guitar shop and bought a pair of matching Fender instruments. Now, they’re auctioning the Fender guitars to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Les Claypool reunited his Fearless Flying Frog Brigade for a tour this year. Each night featured the group performing the Pink Floyd masterpiece “Animals” in its entirety. Claypool just released a pro-shot recording of the song “Pigs,” recorded in Denver.
