The guitar and bass duo of Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan have released their sophomore album, entitled “Epistrophy.” Named after one of two Thelonious Monk songs they cover, the live album captures the incredible empathy and energy they draw from each other’s playing.

Five months after releasing the successful “Oxnard,” Anderson .Paak has come back with another California city-based album called “Ventura.” Just like its predecessor, the album is full of amazing guests and fat bass lines.

Melissa Etheridge has released The Medicine Show, which marks her 15th studio recording. The singer is supported by a crack team of session musicians including bassist Chris Chaney, who has worked with artists from Jane’s Addiction to Alanis Morissette.

The late Ronnie James Dio is returning to the stage this year. Eyellusion has announced the Dio Returns Tour, which will feature a hologram of the singer performing alongside the DIO band, which features Bjorn Englen on bass.

It’s been 11 years since The Raconteurs released an album, but this year they’re fixing that. “Help Us Stranger” will be released on June 21st, with bassist Jack Lawrence. The band announced a tour in support of the album.

Sego has released their second album, called “Sego Sucks.” The indie-rockers expanded from duo to a quartet between the two releases, adding guitarist Brandon McBride and bassist Alyssa Davey just last year.

DC-based post-punk band Priests have returned with “The Seduction of Kansas,” which marks their second full-length release and sixth album in total. The band continues their politically-leaning themes, starting with the album title.

Periphery has returned with their fourth album called “Periphery IV: Hail Stan.” It marks the first release since Adam “Nolly” Getgood left the official ranks of the band, though they hired him back on to record the bass lines.

Matt McJunkins has released a new album called “Intruder” with his band The Beta Machine. The bassist, who’s also known for his work with A Perfect Circle and Eagles of Death Metal, formed the band with drummer and APC bandmate Jeff Friedl.

After announcing their first ever “Aristocamp,” The Aristocrats have unveiled the title of their next album and a supporting North American tour. The album and tour are both called “You Know What…?”

Drummer and “rhythmic storyteller” Sean Noonan and his jazz-rock band Pavees Dance have released their second album, “Tan Man’s Hat.” The adventurous music runs parallel to Ornette Coleman’s harmolodic system, so it’s perfect that it includes bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma.

The all bass ensemble known as The BassMonsters have returned with a new album called “UNIO.” Led by Claus Freudenstein, the effort includes double bass arrangements of rock and pop songs.
