Dave Sanborn has a cool new video series out called “Sanborn Sessions.” Sanborn put together a house band for the series, which includes Ben Williams on bass. In this episode, Michael McDonald and Brian Owens join the group to perform some sweet music.

Karl Clews is known for his impressive bass cover videos. Now we get to check out one of his compositions. He shared this video with us of his tune, “Juggernaut,” arranged for three basses.

Back in 1997, D’Angelo made an appearance on the Chris Rock Show on Valentine’s Day, along with Ali Shaheed, Spanky, Saadiq, and Questlove. They tore it up on D’Angelo’s hit song, “Lady.”

Zander Zon wrapped up the first “season” of his Pandora’s Bass series with this video and arrangement of U2’s “With or Without You.”

Yussef Dayes and Alfa Mist is a very cool band. Rocco Palladino (Pino’s son) is the bassist, and I’m guessing he’s had some amazing bass lessons over the years. Here they are again, performing Dayes’ “Love Is The Message.”

Jason Raso sent us this video, and I immediately watched it, thinking, “this has a great Weather Report vibe!” Then I read the note: “Respectfully dedicated to Joe Zawinul and the music of Weather Report.”

For the second day in a row, we received a great bass and drums duo video from a No Treble reader. Travis Shaw has a new solo album coming this year, and he’s shared a video in advance of the release.

Zlatoyar sent us this video, which he recorded with fellow bassist Alex Golub and drummer Alexander Kasiarum. Here’s their arrangement of the System of a Down tune, “Spiders.”

When I saw that Scary Pockets did a cover of Joni Mitchell’s great tune, “River,” I wasn’t sure what to expect. But they blew me away. Anchored by Joe Ayoub, with some excellent vocals by Rett Madison, here’s their take on the song.

It has been a while since we’ve seen a new video by Jesús Rico Pérez, but thankfully that all changed this morning with his release of this cover of the Mau Lao tune, “Les Chemins d´Èlodie.”

Rufus Reid has a new duo album coming with pianist Sullivan Fortner on the vinyl-only label Newvelle Records. Luckily, the company also captured video of some of the recording session.

Kevin sent me this incredible video of Alphonso Johnson‘s band performing Mongo Santamaría’s “Afro Blue,” which was popularized by John Coltrane. This was a new group Alphonso formed earlier this year - and what a killer band it is!
