When I was a kid, I wore out my copy of Yes’ Fragile, and in particular, the track “The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus),” thanks of course to Chris Squire. Here’s a great live clip of the band performing it (after “Long Distance Runaround”) in 2004 at Lugano. This brings back great memories.

No Treble reader William Noftsinger sent us this video with a simple note: “I’m playing a Bach Cello Suite on an old Fender.” We dig the exercise and that sweet old school bass.

Gabriel Severn is a 13-year-old bassist who has been blowing people away on the social web. Here’s a video featuring Gabriel tearing it up on the tune “Caravan,” with 16-year-old Logan Sheppard on drums on The Urban Renewal Project Horn Section. Watch out world!

Kinga Glyk always impresses us, but this one might take the cake. Performing with her trio, she tears through “Donna Lee” on uke bass. And dig that solo!

Johannes Pehrson sent us another video, and this time it is a live version of a tune he’s previously shared. Along with Maria Anna Rosenberg, the duo Me and Maria performs this beautiful tune, “Hvor kærligheden vugges.” “The bass I used in this song is a 4 string Sandberg California with piccolo strings,” Johannes shared.

Diego Tarantino is such a talent, and not only on bass. Here’s a video he’s just shared with us of his ukulele and bass cover of Jerome Kern’s “Pick Yourself Up.”

This year’s Jazz in Marciac lineup looked to be stellar, and here’s one example. The Mike Stern band took the stage with Richard Bona on bass, Manu Katche on drums, and Niels Lan Doky on keys. Here’s one of the clips from their performance. As always, Bona is so on the money!

Here’s another excellent clip from YYNOT’s Melbourne, Florida concert back in June, with one of my all-time favorite Rush tunes. “100% live, no overdubs… first time playing it after one quick run through,” the band shared. Once again, Tim Starace nails that tone (and handles the keyboard parts.)

This is one awesome cover. Bassist May Patcharapong took the stage at the Saxophone Pub and Restaurant with his band and performed Marcus Miller’s “Run For Cover.” So groovy.
