The Zamar Odongo Collective: Cantaloupe Island

The Zamar Odongo Collective: Cantaloupe Island

I’ve watched just one video of The Zamar Odongo Collective, and I’m already a big fan. Drummer Zamar Odongo and the group’s pianist, Timothée Bakoglu, came up with this terrific arrangement of Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island”. Making this even sweeter is the groove (and tone) by bassist Lucy Clifford. We’ll be watching for more from this group from Berklee.

Miles Mosley, Featuring Justin Sky: High School

Miles Mosley, Featuring Justin Sky: High School

Miles Mosley can rip it up on the upright bass, but his latest release, “High School,” isn’t about that. “Ever meet someone that makes you feel nervous and giddy like you’re back in High School again?,” the bassist asks. “Here’s live footage of a song I co-wrote about that very thing, featuring the West Coast Get Down and Justin Sky....

The Loop Loft All-Stars, Featuring Mark Kelley: Can’t Wait For Perfect

Our friend Dan Spitzer sent in this awesome clip of The Loop Loft All-Stars featuring bassist Mark Kelley performing “Can’t Wait For Perfect” live in New York City. The Roots bassist lays down a sparse yet compelling bass line with a huge tone. “I thought you might dig the bass groove at around 9 minutes from the great Mark Kelley,”...

Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals took the stage at Morrison, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre in September, and the reunited group brought out a special guest for one of their tunes. “It’s amazing when you can find your way as an adult to creatively collaborate with your parent,” Harper said. “So without further ado, Jeremy Nelson.” Jeremy is the son...

Vulfpeck: Rango II

Vulfpeck: Rango II

The second video from Vulfpeck’s brand new album, Thrill of the Arts, is here. This is “Rango II” – a nice laid back version of the song that originally appeared on Mit Peck. Joe Dart lays down a nice groove, as always.
