It is always exciting to hear new music from FORQ. They just dropped the video for “Song For Jim,” which is on their upcoming album, “Big Party.”

Recorded at University Aula in Oslo, Norway in 1966, here’s Thelonious Monk performing “Blue Monk,” with Charlie Rouse on tenor saxophone, Larry Gales on bass, and Ben Riley on drums.

Steve Bailey shared this on Berklee Bass Department’s Facebook group from the 1996 NAMM show. Steve put on quite a performance at the Aria booth!

Victor’s Places shared this excellent video of pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Dave Weckl in a live session in Berlin. So great to see these cats at work!

Cory Wong visited Fender Japan for their “Sessions” series, and put on quite a show. The band was joined by guitarist Rei and played “Flyers Direct,” “Team Sports,” “Airplane Mode,” “Blue Bird,” “Gumshü,” and “Lunch Time.”

Here’s something I never expected to say: Devo performed a Tiny Desk Concert… in 2024.

Rick Suchow just dropped another recording from a 1981 performance by Jaco Pastorius. Here's the band, featuring Michael Brecker, performing “Fannie Mae.” Jaco dials up the distortion to 11 on his solo.

NPR doesn’t post many Tiny Desk (At Home) concerts these days, but I’m glad they made an exception with this performance by Milton Nascimento and Esperanza Spalding.

I discovered the band Eilidh today, and I was glad I did. They released videos from “Na Casa,” described as “a series of live intimate concerts in [the] ambiance of a very cool grandma’s house.” Here’s “No Hay Presupuesto.”
