AC Guitars has announced a new line of handmade production basses called the Graft series, aimed at bringing hand made instruments into a more accessible price point.
The new models are handcrafted by Scottish builder Alan Cringean in Moffat alongside his custom work. The line includes five different body shapes: Finn, Recurve, Harlot, Gallas, and J-Type, all built of Alder with a selection of top woods. The 3-piece Maple necks are carved with an asymmetric profile and complimented with a Rosewood fingerboard.
For electronics, the Graft basses include a custom wound ACG Graft humbucker and an East two-band active EQ that features internally selectable frequencies to allow for tuning the EQ to the bass.
Standard chrome hardware in included, with a Hipshot Type B bridge and Gotoh GB7 tuners.
The Graft series basses are not built to order, but “built on an ongoing basis and will be put up on the site as they become available.”
It’s also possible to reserve the basses via the ACG site. The basses are priced at £685.00 (~ $1,123 USD) for a 4-string and £710.00 (~ $1,164 USD) for a 5-string. For more details, visit the AC Guitars website.
