Bass of the Week: Bacce Guitars Bold X-Bird 4
This week we’re checking out the Bacce Guitars Bold X-Bird 4, built by Spanish luthier Daniel Cabezas. Featuring a distinct body shape, the bass is built with lots of beautiful woods for an amazing look.
Cabezas crafted the instrument with a swamp ash body topped with a premium flamed maple top. It has a black stain on the top and red stain on the back for an interesting contrast. Its five-piece neck is made with maple and padauk, all topped with a master grade cocobolo fretboard. A custom stainless steel engraved pickguard rounds out the heavy dynamic.
Electronics include a pair of Delano X-Tender pickups matched to an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. It has dual volume controls, a stacked bass/treble knob, and a mid knob with a push/pull function for the frequency. A mini-switch toggles between active and passive operation.
