Gibson has unveiled a new bass collaboration with Gene Simmons through the Gibson Custom Shop. The new Gene Simmons EB-0 marks several firsts for the Gibson Custom Shop as its first 30.5-inch scale bass.

Gibson has launched a bevy of pickups in the Gibson Pickup Shop Collection, and among the 22 offerings is one bass model. The Thunderbird Bass Reissue houses a period-correct T-Bird pickup under a chrome cover.

The online musical marketplace Reverb has many thousands of listings, and every so often, something very special pops up. This week they found a remarkable bass that they featured as their find of the week: a 1954 Gibson EB-1.

More industry news is rolling in to start the year as it has been announced that Gibson has acquired Mesa/Boogie. Randy Smith, who founded the company 51 years ago, will join Gibson as “Master Designer and Pioneer of Mesa/Boogie and beyond.”

Calton Cases has teamed up with Gibson to create a Gibson Signature Series of guitar cases. The lineup includes custom cases made in Austin, Texas for all of Gibson’s basses through history.

Author and Gibson bass fanatic Rob van den Broek has just released the second edition of the “Gibson Bass Book”. The 204-page book builds on the initial release with over eighty-five basses featured with unique photos and descriptions.
