Bass of the Week: Schecter Guitars dUg Pinnick DP-12

King’s X bassist and vocalist dUg Pinnick is renowned for his huge tone. That comes partly from his instruments, including this 12-string artist model from Schecter. The bass comes in left- or right-handed versions and has standard E-A-D-G tuning with double octave strings.
The bass is built with a mahogany body, maple neck, and an ebony fretboard with pearloid dots as well as a DUG inlay at the 12th fret. Its electronics include a single Seymour Duncan Pro Active APB-1 pickup with a matching 2-band STC-2S-B0 preamp.
Changing your strings may take three times longer, but the tone you can get from a 12-string is worth it.
