Carmine Appice’s Cactus Recruits Billy Sheehan, Dug Pinnick, Tony Franklin, and More for Temple of Blues II

Cactus Temple of Blues II

Rock legend Carmine Appice and his reformed version of Cactus have returned with a new album, Temple of Blues II, and the lineup is stacked. The drummer assembled an all-star cast of musicians to fill out their second tribute to the blues.

That includes Eric Gales, Ty Tabor, Pat Travers, Bumblefoot, Steve Morse, Joe Lynn Turner, Derek Sherinian, Alex Skolnik, Dee Snider, Tracii Guns, Ted Nugent, and more.

The bass lineup is a who’s who of rock: Billy Sheehan, Dug Pinnick, James Caputo, Phil Soussan, Johnny Rod, Tony Franklin, Rudy Sarzo, Jimmy Haslip, and Bob Daisley. Collectively, they’ve played on the biggest albums in rock history, not to mention Haslip’s unreal jazz chops.

Sheehan is prominiently featured on the album opener, “Back Door Man Pt. 1 & 2,” alongside Gales.

Temple of Blues II is out now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Apple Music, and Amazon Music).
