In this “From the Bottom” episode, Paul Thompson honors the late, great jazz bassist Charlie Haden on the 10th anniversary of his passing.
8. Geddy Lee’s Solo Album, “My Favourite Headache,” To Be Re-Released on Vinyl
Geddy Lee only had one solo album. “My Favourite Headache” was released in 2000 during the iconic prog-rock trio’s four-year hiatus following tragedies in drummer Neil Peart’s life. It was rereleased on vinyl in 2019 as a limited edition Record Store Day Exclusive, and now it’s being pressed again.
9. Big Thief Parts Ways With Max Oleartchik
Big Thief has announced that after nearly a decade in the group, founding bassist Max Oleartchik is no longer a member of the band. The news was shared in a Facebook post citing “interpersonal reasons,” although the change is made with love.
10. Medeski Martin & Wood Documentary Coming Soon
Over thirty years since their formation, Medeski Martin & Wood are still revered as some of the best and most creative improvisors on the planet. Now fans will get a little better understanding. The 2019 documentary “Not Not Jazz” will finally be available to the public.
