“We Always Loved This Circuit”: EarthQuaker Brings Back Original Hoof Fuzz for 400-Unit Anniversary Run

EarthQuaker Devices is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Hoof fuzz with a “special hyper-limited edition” of the pedal. It will feature the same hand-soldered through-hole construction and rare military-spec germanium transistors from the original design.
“The original Hoof was finely tuned to produce everything from light overdrive to a thick sustaining wall of fuzz with a wide range tone control that featured pre-set mods in lieu of the “shift” control found on later models,” says Earthquaker founder Jamie Stillman. “We always loved this original circuit and we are pleased to bring it back for our 20th Anniversary!”
The circuit features a hybrid germanium/silicon design and an all-analog signal path. It has a simple tone, fuzz, and level control configuration for dialing in your sound. The 20th anniversary edition is limited to 400 units in a Platinum Vein enclosure with black print. Each is packaged in a custom wooden box and satin bag. Other goodies include an exclusive enamel pin, a woven patch, and a metallic sticker. Stillman numbers and signs each product manual.
The Hoof Fuzz 20th Anniversary Edition is available now for $229 only through the Earthquaker Devices Reverb Shop.
