Tool is a band that notoriously works on their own time line. Their tedious writing process leads to big gaps between albums. Most notably, their latest album, 2019’s Fear Inoculum, came out a whopping thirteen years after 10,000 Days. We’re coming up on six years since Fear Inoculum itself, but bassist Justin Chancellor has shared some promising news for fans.

The band is about to embark on a Latin American tour, and after that they have set aside three months to work on new ideas. Chancellor shared the news in an interview with Mexican metal site Summa Inferno. The bassist said they all have ideas to share and organize.

“We have already shared with the others the ideas we have and when we return from the tour, we will spend three months in the studio to organize all those ideas,” he said. “There are always many stages in our process. When we like something, we save it or record it but the most complicated process is when we have to decide what will go on the album…”

Tool is scheduled to perform in Mexico and South America throughout the month of March. We’ll keep you updated with more details as they become available.
