Tool’s ‘Back to the Beginning’ Set from Black Sabbath’s Final Show Appears on YouTube (For Now)

A full recording of Tool’s set from Back to the Beginning, the monumental Black Sabbath farewell concert, has surfaced on YouTube. Fans eager to relive the historic night may want to act quickly, as unofficial uploads like this often vanish without warning.

Held at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025, Back to the Beginning marked Black Sabbath’s final show and featured one of the most stacked metal lineups in recent memory. Tool performed after Pantera and before Slayer, delivering a powerful three-song set: “Forty Six & 2,” a crushing cover of Sabbath’s “Hand of Doom,” and “Ænima.”

Justin Chancellor’s signature tone was on full display. Playing his Wal MkII 4-string, he delivered snarling, mid-heavy clarity through a rig pairing Gallien-Krueger heads with Mesa/Boogie cabinets. The result was a tight, punchy low end that stayed articulate even in the massive outdoor mix. On “Hand of Doom,” his lines paid homage to Geezer Butler’s iconic bass work while adding his own gritty, modern edge.

The concert was a celebration of Sabbath’s legacy, with Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, and others joining the bill for an all-day farewell to the gods of metal. Tool’s contribution stood out for its precision and heaviness, especially their well-received take on “Hand of Doom,” which many fans praised as a highlight of the night.

For now, you can watch Tool’s full Back to the Beginning set on YouTube. Just don’t be surprised if it disappears soon.
