Brian Cook Brings Crushing Tone to Russian Circles’ Audiotree “From Nothing” Session

Russian Circles came in locked and loaded for this Audiotree session. The set is heavy, tight, and full of the tension and release they are known for. Brian Cook drives the whole thing with that growling tone and surgical feel that makes the low end punch right through the mix.

Cook plays with Botch, Sumac, and These Arms Are Snakes, and you can hear that same intensity here. He is playing an aluminum neck Series Two from Electrical Guitar Company, and it sounds nasty in the best way. Nothing flashy. Just heavy, locked-tight playing that drives everything forward.

The full video includes three songs. They are all worth watching, but my personal favorite is the third track, Gnosis.  Gnosis starts at 15:57. That one hits different. The feel, the tone, the space they create with so little is what makes this band so powerful.

If you have ever seen Russian Circles live, you already know. They are one of the loudest and heaviest bands out there. Not just volume. Presence. Weight. The kind of thing that sticks with you.

Hit play and let the bass do what it does.
