If you’ve followed Juan Alderete’s career, you know that he has a treasure trove of bass gear. Aside from his killer basses, he’s known as a master of pedals and effects and has hundreds of rare and funky pieces in his collection.

Now, he’s putting much of it up for grabs.

Alderete has announced he is selling over 700 pieces of gear, including basses, amps, and pedals on Reverb. His official Reverb Shop will launch on July 16th with pieces from his days with Racer X, The Mars Volta, Big Sir, Deltron 3030, Mac Miller, and more.

“All this gear should be in the hands of creative musicians who want to do what [the gear] is designed to do: make beautiful music,” Alderete said.

Highlights include a Lakland Daryl Jones Signature bass used to record The Mars Volta’s The Bedlam in Goliath, a Fender Custom Shop bass with an Oakland Raiders graphic, a Mr. Black Fwonk Beta Prototype, a Boss Custom Juan Vibrato used extensively on his pedalboard, and a Mutron Micro V he used with Deltron 3030.

Alderete has been a No Treble favorite from the beginning. He first turned heads in 1986 as part of Racer X, especially for his wicked lines on “Scarified.” Many know him for his time in The Mars Volta, but his resumé is extensive: The Scream, Big Sir, Lil Peep, Juliette Lewis, Deltron 3030, Domo Genesis, Mac Miller, Dr. Octagon (Kool Keith), One Day as a Lion, and more. In 2020, Alderete had a bicycle accident in which he suffered a traumatic brain injury that has made him cognitively disabled. He’s since been working on playing again and most recently released an album as thegoodnews with Del the Funky Homosapien.

Juan Alderete’s Official Reverb Shop launches on July 16th, but you can sign up for details on Reverb.
