Listen: Pino Palladino and Blake Mills Drop “Contour” from Upcoming Album, “That Wasn’t a Dream”

Blake Mills and Pino Palladino have just dropped “Contour,” marking the second single from their upcoming album, That Wasn’t A Dream. The album title seems to fit the song, as its dream-like texture takes listeners into a state of reverie.
“‘Contour’ builds intentionally, as Palladino’s finger-picked guitar casts a starry scene,” a press release explains. “It’s a gradual introduction to the expansive and mysterious fantasy world of That Wasn’t A Dream.”
Palladino shared a photo from the studio session with himself playing guitar, writing, “Pretty sure this was day one of LP2.”

In addition to a delicate guitar, Palladino laid down some gorgeous fretless lines in both the higher and lower registers. The high parts impart a tone close to a synthesizer.
Give it a listen:
“Contour” is streaming now on Apple Music and Amazon Music, while That Wasn’t A Dream will be out on August 22nd. Palladino and Mills will be on tour later this year, so don’t miss your chance to see this jaw-dropping music live.
