Watch: Coheed and Cambria Drop “Endless Summer” Take on “Goodbye, Sunshine” with Nick Hexum

Coheed and Cambria lit up Chicago on Tuesday night with a show that was nothing short of epic. Zach Cooper’s Aguilar rig paired with his Yamaha basses sounded massive. Fat, warm, and full of bite. He laid down tone that carried the set from start to finish without ever getting in the way. As if that wasn’t enough, the band capped things off by dropping a brand new version of “Goodbye, Sunshine” for the rest of us to soak up.

This new take, called “Goodbye, Sunshine (Endless Summer),” brings in 311’s Nick Hexum and swaps the original’s weight for something way more laid back. It is all groove and glow with horns, dubby textures, and Hexum’s unmistakable chill in the mix.

Turns out this version started at a stripped down pop-up set in Chicago. The band leaned into that energy and built out a full studio take with help from legendary dub producer The Scientist. The video, directed by Josh Forbes, is a total throwback trip with tropical colors and a wink at their own “A Favor House Atlantic” video and the 1986 comedy Club Paradise.

Feels like the right song at the right time. Crank it.
