Guns N’ Roses Drop Two New Songs, With Duff McKagan Driving the Low End on “Nothin’” and “Atlas”

Duff McKagan

Guns N’ Roses have returned with two new singles – “Nothin'” and “Atlas” – marking the band’s first releases since 2023. Both songs were conceived during the Chinese Democracy sessions over two decades ago, and together they showcase the dichotomy of the band’s sound between straight-forward rock and power ballads.

The mighty Duff McKagan anchors each track with his signature growl.

“Nothin'” kicks off with a plaintive groove on the keys. McKagan’s bass line enters to give the accompaniment a more melodic aspect, hanging on a high note to add suspense towards the end of the phrase. McKagan revealed the track was coming back in May during a bass clinic, where he also said he rolls his tone knob between totally open and totally closed to achieve the right sound for each section.

McKagan opens “Atlas” with a huge slide. His biting bass sound cuts through the mix like a knife to give the song an extra edge. Also, listen in for his killer fills between Axl Rose’s lyrics.

“Nothin'” and “Atlas” are streaming now on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other digital platforms. As we recently shared, the band has announced a world tour for 2026. See the full itinerary below.
