Watch: Jack Bruce and Kip Hanrahan Perform “G-d Is Great” Live at Jazzgipfel

Another clip has surfaced from the 1991 Jazzgipfel performance featuring Jack Bruce with Kip Hanrahan’s group. This time it’s “G-d Is Great”, a deep driving piece that shows Bruce in a high-energy jazz fusion setting.

The last video we shared from this set drew a ton of attention from readers, and this one hits just as hard. Bruce is on a four-string fretless Warwick, running through a Trace Elliot head and Hartke Cabinet. His tone is warm and vocal with the kind of edge and nuance that defined his later live sound.

The band is on fire here. The interplay is fierce and fluid and Bruce doesn’t hold back for a second.
