Watch Michael Pipoquinha Turn “Tipo Dani” into a Masterclass in Groove and Control

This is the second video we have shared from this set, and it really shows how much fun Michael Pipoquinha is having on stage.

He is playing a six string bass through an Aguilar rig, with a tone that is clear, punchy, and flexible enough to cover a lot of ground. He moves easily from deep groove to high register lines.  The best part of this clip is the constant trading of leads with the sax player.  Pipoquinha slides between leading and holding things down. One second he is up front throwing melodic ideas into the mix, the next he is back in the pocket keeping everything glued together.

Paired with the first video, this one gives a fuller picture of the night and why this performance is such a joy to watch. It is loose, interactive, and full of personality, which is exactly what live music should feel like.
