This Week in Bass: A New Bridge, Vintage Cetera, and Ritter’s Pirate Bass
Welcome back to No Treble’s countdown of our ten most-read articles of the week.
A new bass bridge from Guyker sparked interest to top our list. The GBA005 Individual Roller Bridge features a CNC-machined aluminum alloy body with a fine tuning knob, making it suited for headless bass designs. They require a body slot or cavity routing to fit your bass, but they can be fitted for four or five-string basses.
The most-watched video this week was a throwback to Peter Cetera’s magnificent bass playing during Chicago’s 1970 Tanglewood performance. Jody shared the video, explaining that he’s been on a Chicago kick lately.
“My ears go straight to Peter Cetera, playing his trusty P Bass. His part has so much movement, but it fits perfectly around Lamm’s piano, Danny Seraphine’s drums, Terry Kath’s guitar, and that incredible horn section. His bass is also sitting nicely in the mix.”
Jens Ritter unveiled a new bass design in his Masterpiece series. The Beker is inspired by the German pirate Klaus Störtebeker and features two sabers in its body design as well as a Jolly Roger inlay. Ritter calls it “a tribute to those who choose freedom over conformity.”
