Bass Big Muff Pi 2: Electro-Harmonix Brings a “Lost” Big Muff Circuit to Bass

Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff Pi 2

Electro-Harmonix recently launched the Big Muff 2 with the help of JHS founder Josh Scott. The circuit is a long-lost design that was found while working on a book about EHX. Now, they’ve optimized the fuzz pedal for bass for a new product called the Bass Big Muff Pi 2.

“The Bass Big Muff 2 features the signature midrange grind of the original with the flexible EQ and virtually endless sustain expected in any Big Muff,” the company writes.

The Bass version features a Blend knob and a Bass Boost switch in addition to the standard Volume, Sustain, and Tone knobs. The Blend knob sets the mix of clean and dirty signals to retain low end, while the Bass Boost gives it even more impact. “These added controls let the bass player dial in the best fuzz tone without sacrificing their ability to shake walls and rattle halls,” they state.
