Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place” Gets a Live Jazz Overhaul
Players from Open Studio take on “Everything In Its Right Place” by Radiohead and fully reimagine it as a modern jazz performance.
The original’s looping, electronic foundation is replaced with a fluid groove that shifts and responds in real time. Instead of repetition driving the track, it is all about interaction. The band focuses into space, harmony, and feel, turning the tune into something alive.
Bob DeBoo pulls double duty with the low end on upright while also covering synth textures. There is some especially sweet piano work that opens things up before the energy builds into a dynamic drum solo. It is less a cover and more a transformation. The core mood of the tune is there, but the way it moves is completely different. This is what happens when jazz players take a familiar track and make it their own.
