Sean Hurley and Grace Enger Put Some Groove in Pockets Put Some Groove in Scary Pockets “Why Why Why”

Scary Pockets recently released a live studio performance of “Why Why Why” featuring vocalist Grace Enger, with an all-star backing band that includes Sean Hurley on bass, Larry Goldings on organ, and Jake Reed on drums.

Hurley delivers exactly the kind of playing that has made him one of the most respected session bassists around: deep pocket, impeccable note choices, and a warm supportive tone that lays a solid foundation.  The groove sits in that perfect space between vintage soul warmth and polished modern studio clarity. It sounds deceptively simple until you really listen to how locked-in the band is. Enger’s vocal floats effortlessly over the track while Goldings adds rich texture and color throughout.

A classy groove from top to bottom.
