Korean Fusion/Funk Group Bump2 Delivers a Monster Fusion Home Session
I just discovered the Korean fusion and funk group Bump2 and this full “Home Session” video is a serious ride. The band tears through a full set of groove heavy instrumentals, including “Skunk” featuring Cory Wong, with a level of precision that few bands reach.
The whole thing has a fast paced modern funk energy that immediately brought Vulfpeck to mind. Bassist Yeongjae Jung is a huge part of why this works so well. He appears to be playing a vintage Fender Jazz Bass, delivering clean fingerstyle runs, sharp articulation, and tone that cuts right through the mix with lots of low end warmth. Check out the double thumb work starting at 4:50.
This band was new to me, but I will definitely be going back for more. If you only have time for one track, start HERE.
