Ernie Ball Introduces Slinky Flatwound Bass Strings

Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky Flatwound Bass StringsErnie Ball is fusing the elements of two types of strings with their new Slinky Flatwound Electric Bass Guitar Strings. Developed with the company’s patented cobalt steel alloy, the strings are described as having the sound of round wound strings with the smooth feel of traditional flatwound strings.

The strings are constructed with a cobalt ribbon wire wrapped around a hex core with cobalt under-wraps. Ernie Ball adds that they feature an optimal core-to-wrap ratio for comfortable tension and playability.

Ernie Ball’s Slinky Flatwound Electric Bass Guitar Strings come in four and five-string sets with Regular, Super, Power, Extra, and Hybrid gauges. They are shipping in early May with street prices of $34.99 for the four-string set and $39.99 for the five-string set.
