In Memoriam: Richard Ruse

Richard RuseSad news to report today: Trickfish Amplification founder Richard Ruse has passed away. The company announced his death on social media.

“It is with great sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our founder and visionary, Richard Ruse,” they wrote on Facebook. “Richard passed away from complications due to an infection he was battling for several weeks. Richard loved Trickfish and the bass player community as a whole. The remaining partners, Ryan Owens and David Yates, will continue to work closely with Michael Pope and Anthony Fregoso to continue to offer the best products coupled with unsurpassed customer service just as Richard would have wanted it.”

Before getting into the technical side of the business, Ruse was a working bassist in the LA scene where he took on sessions for commercials and film scores in addition to music. His first music industry job was with Alesis, after which he joined the team at SWR Engineering and worked his way up to Vice President of Sales. Other work included time at KRK Systems and JBL Professional. He formed Trickfish in 2014.
