Leland Sklar Joins Judith Owen for Spring Tour
Singer-songwriter Judith Owen has announced a new spring tour in support of her upcoming album redisCOVERed, which will feature reworked songs ranging from Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” to Drake’s “Hotline Bling”. The trek will once again be anchored by Owen’s friend and bass legend, Leland Sklar.
“Of course I’ll be touring from here on out with my ‘main men’ bass guitar god Leland Sklar [who is] hot off the massive Phil Collins South American stadium and arena tour (boy is he in for a shock!!!) and killer percussionist Pedro Segundo,” she writes. Owen, who is married to actor/bassist Harry Shearer, says there may also be a guest appearance from a member of Spinal Tap. “Rumor has it that a Mr. Derek Smalls might join us at Milwaukee’s notorious Shank Hall to sit in and view the original miniature Stonehenge that hangs over all who dare to play there!”
The tour kicks off May 10th at The Iridium in New York City and will cover the mid-Atlantic and head to the Midwest. It’s slated to wrap up in Milwaukee on May 29th.
While we’re waiting for the new album, check out Sklar jamming out with Owen on “Tell All Your Children” from Live in the House in 2016:
