Joy Division/New Order’s Peter Hook to open new club

Peter HookBassist Peter Hook of New Order (formerly Joy Division) is opening a new music venue in his hometown of Manchester. The venue, called FAC251: The Factory, features 3 floors and a 350-person capacity, is set to launch on January 29. Interestingly enough, the actual building is where Joy Division’s old label, Factory Records, had its offices.

Hook says of the venue, “The thing that appealed to me was the propagation of music, bringing through new groups, because I think that new bands in Manchester are getting used and abused a little bit. So, the idea is to put a good old-fashioned venue, where music is the key, and give them a chance to grow.”
