John Patitucci: Walking BassJohn Patitucci has worked with Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Nancy Wilson, Freddie Hubbard, and Joshua Redman, just to name a few. Saying he has a deep well of knowledge on walking bass lines is an understatement. Now he’s sharing that knowledge with a new book simply called Walking Bass.

Available in PDF and physical formats, the book is written for both acoustic and electric bassists who are looking to up their walking game. Patitucci takes it from the simple to the complex to bolster your playing.

“This book is all about strengthening your ability to play walking bass in a two-feel and walking 4/4 feel through a variety of changes,” he writes. “It shows you how to make your lines more compositional and melodic on both basic changes, as well as more complex re-harmonizations with substitutions and polychords. Whether you play electric or acoustic bass, this book is going to help you create stronger basslines with clarity and freedom. I know you’re going to enjoy it!”

Patitucci teaches you four guiding principles he uses for crafting strong bass lines that progress with each chapter. The 100-page book also has 15 bass etudes to give “unparalleled insight into John’s walking bass approach and vocabulary.”

Patitucci’s Walking Bass is available now through Amazon in paperback and Kindle versions.
